On the way to visit Gala's castle in Pubol.
We had a wonderful time with you and are so happy that you know where I live and met important people in my life. You are a beautiful family:)I hope you had a good flight home and got some sleep. Have a wonderful Summer!
On our last day, we went to Gala-Dali's Castle in the village of Pubol - the castle that Dali gave to his wife Gala. A lovely drive to a countryside lunch in St. Marti Vell. Home to pack up and enjoy the pool and eating al fresco one last time with a special little birthday party for moi!

Back in Barcelona
That is the sweetest baby!!!
Hanging out in Park Guell
We love Park Guell!
Jordan is so cute he had everyone in the park watching him feed the pigeons !
Last day in Barcelona picking up the sights we didn't want to miss - the spectacular Sagrada Familia and Park Guell, both Antoni Gaudi designs. We took our time and enjoyed a beer in the park then walked through this wildly creative space and felt inspired by the beauty and unusualness.

Els Volcans
Today we visited the volcanic area of the Garrotxa in the interior of Catalonia. We walked over the medieval bridge of Besalu and found some cute shops and had a nice lunch outside. It felt good to be in the country and Robert got lost in the skies with the birdies:) We saw the Croscat volcano and then enjoyed a coffee in Santa Pau before coming back to Girona to walk the wall at sunset. Robert and Linda had a dinner date with the baby sleeping and Jordan and I went to the park then watched videos at home while eating pancakes. Just two more days of visiting to go:(

Meeting Jaume's Parents
Let's see how many of these pebbles I can throw in the sea before we have to leave...
Jason in the big chair
I'm so happy to meet Jaume's parents!
Today we went back to Tossa for Paella with Jaume's parents and had a lovely time besides Jordan's pre-nap disposition. Jordan finally took a nap and we all enjoyed cod bunyols and lobster croquets and then a gorgeous seafood paella. Waddled our way down to the beach and some of us jumped in the chilly water and then napped up on the beach.

Barcelona
We enjoyed some of Antoni Gaudi's architectural masterpieces, the grand Passeig de Gracia shopping street, and some tapas as the kids took naps. As they started perking up we went down to La Rambla, the main walking street in Barcelona, as Jordan enjoyed the culinary delicacies of Burger King in the stroller with a view of all the street mimes and performers. La Boqueria market with its gorgeous display of everything edible and onto Placa Reial, where we had drinks and Jordan had a blast running around the square. A loop through the Gothic Quarter and back up to the train station for the fast train back to Caldes.

Aiguamolls de L'Emporda Nature Park
Needless to say we were ahead of Robert after the first few steps as this is the one of the most important wetland areas in Spain and a great place for birding! We had fun seeing the white storks with their young and huge prehistoric looking nests, also a bee catcher, lots of ducks, and I'm sure Robert saw many more things! The highlight for Jordan was the old rice silo you can climb to the top of with views of the park, the mountains, the sea and rice fields with horses grazing.
Later on Jordan and I went to the beach and Linda, Robert and Jason visited Greek and Roman ruins.

Tossa de Mar
First day to the Mediterranean to the beautiful town of Tossa with its fortress, sheilding against pirates in medieval times, on a hill above the beach. We had lunch right on the beach at a snack bar complete with sangria and then split up - Robert and Jordan to the beach and Linda and I shopping through the white-washed town. We met up at the modernist Hotel Diana for a coffee and then climbed up the fortress for views of the sea and old town.

Linda and Robert's Visit
Many people thought Linda and Robert were crazy for embarking upon this transatlantic trip with two little ones, but they are adventurous souls...and Jasonet is still almost free on the plane:) They arrived to the Barcelona airport happy and ready to see Espana! After a round of cafes con leche and a few times up and down the escalator with Jordanet, we were off to Pepecar to pick up their rental van. A 9-passenger Mercedes van, which sounds big, but we soon filled it up with a little stretching room to spare. Robert was the designated driver and he had to get used to driving a stick again really quick as he pulled right out and onto the highway through Barcelona. We were on our way to Caldes de Malavella where Jaume's parents had so generously lent their house with pool for two weeks.
